Early start but not quite early enough.

Another early start, hoping to get to Brid to catch a sunrise.

Finished up a few minutes late.  Tried to console myself with the thought that sunrises will get more and more sociable as respects the time, but will move further north so that by the time it is at a sensible hour it will rise in the open sea to the south of east.

So the sun was already low in the sky when we arrived at South Bay...

A still and silent amusement park.

This end of the beach is intended for small children.  I hope they appreciate it...

A walk along the beach towards the harbour,  at this time deserted, but later to be busy with holidaymakers...

Gulls  were busy on the tide line...

Bridlington was still to wake...

At this time of year the birds are looking a bit scraggy.  Turnstones hanging around hoping for the odd chip...

The new concrete and glass around the Spa stand bright against the old sea walls...

The fishing side of the harbour was just getting under way on the high tide.  Pots stacked neatly...

Yorkshire Belle having a well earned rest.  In the spring they run puffin cruises in conjunction  with the RSPB.

A very shy Barnacle Goose...

More boats...

part of the rather stylish makeover at the Spa...

And a bit of public art...

The traffic was just starting but later in the day standing in the middle of South Marine Drive is not a good choice.  The low sun made this pic look like nighttime under sodium lights...

And then to Sewerby and Bridlington recedes back into the landscape...

Flamborough Head looking dark with the sun behind it...

Found some steps and went down to the beach...

The white chalk cliffs are stained brown with the mud washed out from above...

A 1st winter black headed gull (I think)...

Back up the steps.  I estimated it the same as climbing the stairs on a 9 storey building,

and a pause with the excuse of photographing a flower...

The view back down...

Meanwhile back in town a man is making friends with the locals...
